With the strive to succeed growing rapidly among this generation, there is a phase that keeps making its way into almost every conversation " work smarter not harder". I thought long about this phrase and it didn't sit well with me and the more I thought about it, I realised what was wrong with the ideology. But First, let's define both terms ;
" Hard work is defined as putting time and effort into completing a task"
while smart work is spending less time to accomplish the same task"
Looking at both definitions, they seem to be so different and yet the same. This is because the effort you put into making and completing a task or achieving a goal easily is also a form of hardwork. So good news! You don't have to choose one as you can as well do both perfectly well. Make use of the resources around you to increase your efficiency and also put in the necessary hours and dedication it takes to achieve your goals.
Hard work is the process that turns your dreams into reality. This process should not and cannot be ignored, your process can be in various forms and of course there are ways to make this process easier and faster, but it's still hard work. So I dare say that smart work is just another form of hardwork, and like success, hardwork is self defined.
There is no trick or short court to your goals, so don't skip the process of hardwork, cause It grooms you into a person capable of achieving those goals.
One of the best definitions of hardwork that I have come across so far is the one given by Christopher D.Connors when he said ;
. " Hard work is working intelligently and vigorously at a specific task to complete it with Maximum efficiency"
The key words in the definition being 'intelligently' (brain power), 'vigorously' (physical strength) for the end result of achieving 'maximum efficiency'. It takes brainpower, mental toughness and intellectual strength to think of a more efficient way to accomplish a task which invariably makes it "hardwork".
Only when you have fully understood that the both are one, and also the same, can you unlock the key principles of achieving maximum efficiency in whatever goal or task you have set out to achieve.
